AI Cockpit Finance Chat

This page explains how to use the AI Cockpit Finance chat assistant embedded in AI/R Watch.

AI Cockpit Finance is an AI-powered chat assistant that lets you ask questions about your organization's AI spend data in natural language and receive answers that include text explanations, charts, and KPI summaries — without navigating through the dashboard manually.

Experimental Feature

AI Cockpit Finance is an experimental feature. Responses are generated based on the data available for the selected organization and may not always reflect the most recent changes.

Opening the Chat

The chat is accessible from any page in AI/R Watch. Look for the chat button (💬) in the bottom-right corner of the screen.

  1. Click the chat button to open the chat panel.
  2. The panel slides in from the right on desktop, or slides up from the bottom on mobile.
  3. The chat is only available after you have signed in and selected an organization.

Asking a Question

  1. Type your question in the input field at the bottom of the chat panel.
  2. Press Enter or click the Send button to submit.
  3. The assistant processes your question and returns a response.

Example Questions

  • "What was our total AI spend last month?"
  • "Which model had the highest cost in Q1?"
  • "How has our LLM spend changed over the past 3 months?"
  • "What is the leading cloud provider by net spend this year?"

Response Types

The assistant can return different types of content depending on the question:

Status Indicators

While the assistant is processing your question, a status message appears below the conversation:

Planning queryThe assistant is determining how to retrieve the data
Running queryThe assistant is fetching data from the data source
Preparing answerThe assistant is formatting the response

Stopping a Response

If the assistant is taking too long or you want to cancel a response in progress, click the Stop button (■) that replaces the Send button while a response is being generated.

Starting a New Conversation

To clear the current conversation and start fresh:

  1. Click the New chat icon (✏️) in the top-right corner of the chat panel.
  2. The conversation history is cleared and the input field is focused automatically.

Closing the Chat

Click the button in the top-right corner of the chat panel, or click anywhere outside the panel on desktop, to close it. Your conversation history is preserved until you start a new chat or reload the page.

Limitations

  • The assistant answers questions based on the data available for the currently selected organization and period.
  • It does not have access to data outside AI/R Watch or to real-time external information.
  • Complex multi-step analyses may produce incomplete or approximate answers.
  • If a query times out, an error message is shown. Try rephrasing the question or breaking it into smaller parts.
